After spending so many years being so critical of myself for every little mistake and perceived flaw, not to mention dealing with some pretty gnarly life issues, I found myself knee deep in major hormonal imbalances, adrenal dysfunction, and digestive issues.
My body just. shut. down. completely.
In the latter part of 2015, I started feeling really run down. My energy level bottomed out, I started putting on weight, and I just didn’t feel like myself. It got so bad that I had to stop working out altogether. I barely had the energy to drag myself to the bathroom, let alone go for a walk or lift weights.
I put myself so far into the hole that it’s taken the past 3 years to heal, and I’m still not 100% yet. In fact, I don’t think I’ll ever really be the same. And this is both good and bad. Although it’s forced me to make some really big mindset shifts (kicking the victim mentality to the curb), it’s also forced me to become semi-obsessed with my food, activity, weight, body, basically everything I do.
It’s taken away so much mental bandwidth that I could be using to build my business, nurture my relationships, and make a real impact on the world.
I’m so passionate about helping busy, overwhelmed, over-stressed women escape this fate that I created a free 7-day self-care challenge, the YES Challenge.
