So I’ve compiled a handy list of my own gym bag essentials so that you’re never in that position again!
Starting with the bag itself — when I travel or need to take a lot of stuff to the gym (change of clothes, toiletries, etc.), this is my go-to bag from Ogio.
1. Headband
With a cute design and velvet backing, these headbands stay put no matter how intense your workout. Choose from dozens of colors and designs. $5-18 at ChicaBands.com and SweatyBands.com
2. Skullcandy Ink’d Earbuds.
Three sizes of silicone gel earbud sleeves for a perfect fit and decent sound for so small a price.
$10.99 at Amazon.com.
3. Ziplock Easy Zipper Storage Bags, Quart & Gallon Size.
These are great for sealing up wet swimsuits or sweaty clothes after a workout and to throw toiletries in for post-workout touch-ups. $2.99 at Drugstore.com.
4. Up & Up Daily Cleansing Cloths. Take off your makeup before your workout in one fell swoop. I’ve tried just about every face wipe out there, from generic to name brand, and Target’s version is my favorite. $3.49 at Target.
5. Hand Bands.
This is a nice alternative to traditional weightlifting gloves to prevent blisters and rips and to just get a good grip on the weights. As the name suggests, it’s similar to a head band, but wraps around your hand and wrist instead. I like that they’re easier to put on and take off, and don’t feel bulky in my hands when I’m lifting or doing pull-ups.
It’s a little tricky at first to get the band twisted just right, but there are helpful tutorials on the website. I personally use the Petite version, as I have little baby hands. ha!
$29.95 at handbandpro.com (they’re running a 40% off sale right now!)
6. Old Navy Women’s Classic Flip Flops. Protect your feet in the locker room with these basic flip flops. $3.50 at OldNavy.com
Hi, my name is Becky, and I am addicted to lip balm. At any one time I have 1-2 in my purse, 2 in my gym bag, and multiples stashed all over the house. I just can’t stand the feeling of dry lips. Although I have a few go-to brands (and I’m super picky), I’m especially enamored with EOS. The formula is soothing and not waxy, and they taste and smell delicious! And though the size and shape doesn’t lend itself to stashing in your pocket or small purse, it’s a lot easier to find in your gym bag. $2.99 at Target.
8. Goody Slide Proof Hair Ties.
These really do stay put in my fine hair through all the plyos, running, and lifting I do, due to the rubbery material intertwined in the elastic. And bonus — no metal! I also love the Ouchless Elastics and Ouchless Ribbon Elastics if I need a little less grip. $3.99 and up at Target.
These are so handy for storing supplements, protein and BCAA powders, and small snacks like almonds. I like that they twist together into one piece. $10.39 for a 4-piece pack at Amazon.com.
There you go! All of my must-haves for the gym to help you be better prepared so that nothing distracts you from your mission — to kick ass!
