It’s that time of year when our skin changes (and usually not for the better ) with the changes in weather and drier indoor air. My favorite clean beauty brand, Beautycounter, has a range of solutions to help with the dry, dull, flaky skin that makes its appearance during the colder months. As a Bc consultant, I’ve had the pleasure of not only testing them all out, but also seeing how they work for my clients.
Here are some tips to help your skin feel and look its best:
- Use lukewarm water on your skin, not hot; try to not stay in the shower too long either (this will help preserve your expensive hair color too!).
- Exfoliate the skin to slough off dry, dead skin and allow nutrients of a proper skincare routine to be easily absorbed. Use chemical exfoliants like the ones in the Overnight Resurfacing Peel and physical ones like in the Reflect Effect AHA mask or the SugarBuff Body Polish (my fave!).
- Nourish with targeted serums, specifically those that improve skin’s elasticity, like Vitamin C – which helps your body synthesize collagen for improved cell turnover. The All Bright C Serum is perfect for this!
- Add lipids to your routine to support skin cells that make up the moisture barrier of the skin – when dry and cracked, bacteria gets in and wreaks havoc. Use facial oils and balms, like the Balancing Facial Oil (sensitive or oily skin), Brightening Facial Oil, Balm For All, Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm, or Melting Body Balm. The Luminous Hydration body oil is fantastic for the skin below the neck and has a lovely citrus and rosemary scent.
